Antique Sliding Book Rack Ends or Stand Wooden with Brass End Mounts circa 1880

Item Title:
Victorian Ebony Book Slide with Brass Mounts

Item Description:

Very decorative Victorian Book Slide or Book Rack dating from around 1880, these were very popular items at the time and prove to be a useful item even today. At either end there are attractive pierced and engraved brass mounts with brass studs. I think the wood is Coromandel which originates in India and Asia it is very hard wood it is sometimes called Ebony. As the name suggest this can expand depending on how many books need to be displayed at one time and it keeps them nesat and tide whist looking attractive at the same time, so it is a very useful piece of desk or table top furniture. The condition is very good the wood is good and the gilding is still on the brass mounts this would polish up a lot better if you wanted to have them shinier. It measures 13" x 5 1/2" when closed and expands to 21 1/2"

Any white marks on the images are from the flash.
