Antique Spanish Colonial Pirates Treasure Chest - Arcon

This is the finest example we have ever had, of one of the original chests that were used to carry gold and silver back to Spain before 1810. In shipwrecks, the only remaining portion you ever get to see is the metal lock-fascia; you have the entire chest!

Condition âe" Entirely original ; wood, hinges, lock and key. The tongue must be pushed in, and held firmly into the lock fascia when turning the key to lock.

Provenance âe" Estate of Ambassador Raúl Sticks Barrenechea; acquired in 1960. A similar piece may be found on page 14 of the book CUBAN ELEGANCE, by Michael Connors.
