JE Stevens Co Rare #40 "Burglar Proof House Safe/Bank" Key combination cast iron still bank does have nickel plating Condition Very Good however on the bottom of leg corners slight plating is off in certain spots Details very good 1 slight crack/split on bottom border see pictures please Year: Manufactured 1897 Measurement: Weight 5 lbs Measures 5-7/8" tall x 4-3/4" wide x 4-1/4" deep. On the bottom of the bank in raised lettering is the following: Key Combination Safe #40 Manufactured By The J & E Stevens Co. Cromwell, Conn. U.S.A." Also on the bottom and on the inside of the door in raised lettering is "PATD Aug 17, 1897" Please be advise that I do not know combination of lock but I do have key. Does open with key but must fiddle with it to get it open a bit and line it up so key turns it.
