Description : A fine 19thC. Fruit, Canning or Preserve Jar with four Cobalt Stripe decorations, 1-Quart capacity, Western Pennsylvania origin, ca.1875. Wheel-thrown, cylindrical form with eased & tooled shoulder, and integrated "Wax Sealer" inner rim. Salt-glazed exterior; Albany or Mineral Slip interior.Condition: This PA "Striper" Jar survives in Excellent, as-made condition. There is some expected minor wear on the inner rim from generations of use, as shown. No chips, cracks, repaired damage or other excuses. Inherent glaze, surface and firing imperfections noted for descriptive accuracy. Displays brilliantly; highly sought-after size, form and decoration.
