100 Link antique surveyors measuring chain - Solid in great condition with brass handles and 5 brass marker tags. Does not contain a manufacture mark or name. These chains date back to late 17th thru 19th centuries having been originally created in mid 1600's by Edmund Gunter. It is sixty-six feet long, and divided into onehundred links of approx. 7.9". I am a retired licensed surveyor in Minnesota and have been collecting antique and vintage surveying equipment for years. From time to time I buy and sell items and dispose of duplicated and/or additional pieces. This chain has been used, rusted and tarnished through daily use decades ago. I have removed the excess surface rust from the links and have applied a very light coat of protective oil which has dried and preserves the natural dark patina of the steel, tags and handles. The chain is ready for display along with other antique surveying instruments you may own.The tags in place on the chain are at 10, 20, 30, 50 and 90 links. The entire chain is solid and as shown in the attached photographs.Shipped flat rate in U.S. for $18.00.PayPal preferred.
