Up for your consideration is an antique crazy quilt, probably from the Victorian Era. We are not experts, so don't assume it! We got this at an estate auction, which had 2 others that were dated 1887. Can't find a date on this one, but with so much detail and so much going on in it, maybe you can if you study it long enough! Looks like four crazy ladies sat around the fire, cackaling and stitching away. All kinds of fabric patches in various shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Very few repeated, only one silky beige material seems to be repititioned, this one has frayed in almost every spot used. The actual size is 62" by 64" which includes an 8" border all around. Has a maroon silky/satiny back, hand stitched to a velvety reddish-purple front with 4 velvet corners that had been handpainted, but are well worn from use. T is some old damage on back with old attempted repairs. Got some seam splits on back and some fraying on front, just shows it's golden age! These girls were gifted needleworkers...Awesome free-stitched bird, butterfly and budding flower. My camera does not do the piece justice. Has some appliques and hand-painted roses, pansies, holly, and an awesome autumn-colored maple leaf! Various long and short stitches holding patches together with every different colored thread available at the time! T's even little tiny gold
