Antique Victorian Oak Tantalus

Antique English Victorian Three Bottle Tantalus c.1880This is an antique Victorian oak and brass mounted Tantalus. The box is crafted in oak with cut brass strap work. There are three hand cut glass decanters with stoppers, a mirrored back, fitted drawers and small compartments. The Tantalus has a styled handle on each side. It is a very decorative piece which is also a fine antique. Condition: Very good condition, Decanters are undamaged, minor wear on some small areas (see pictures) Dimensions in cm: Height 33 x Width 36 x Depth 29 A Tantalus is a type of liquor decanter in which the bottle stoppers are locked down tightly by a metal bar. Like the name suggests, the decanters themselves are visible, temptation whilst being unattainable. A key is required for entry. The key included with this is the original.
