VERY RARE pre-1967 EARLY Buck 120 General with 1-line Tang Stamp

Up for auction is the single finest example of this form of sword we have ever encountered.� We present for your consideration a large and fine early Mexican sword of scimitar form, and dating by our estimation to ca. 1920-1930.� This comes to us out of a collection of rather nice vintage and antique Mexican knives we recently acquired.� As mentioned, the sword is large , measuring 30 inches (76.2 cm) in OAL with a 23 1/2-inch (60 cm) blade that measures 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm) in width at its widest.� The eagle-head pommel has jewel-set eyes (glass, maybe?), one blue, one white.� Though the blue stone looks older, the white stone looks to be more recent.� Both the eagle-head pommel and the guard are made of aluminum, and the tang is peened at the pommel.� The stacked leather grip is in excellent condition, and like the rest of this example is large for this type, measuring nearly 4 3/4 inches in circumference at the palm swell.� All the fittings are tight.� The blade is richly etched on both sides, and the etching is nicely executed.� The obverse is covered in elaborate foliate scroll work, while the reverse depicts animal scenes, featuring a family of foxes in a landscape setting and more scroll work.� While
