ANTQ CONTINENTAL MAJOLICA BOAR HUNT SCENE PITCHER EWER

ANTIQUE BOAR HUNT SCENE MAJOLICA EWER ~ PITCHER!

Interesting earthenware majolica large ewer or pitcher from a wonderful estate collection. We have the text of "Grit Mach Dein Sach dann trink und larch" which German translates to English to read "Then make your physical Grit drinking water and larch", so we feel that this piece may be a continental example from the late 1800's to the turn of the 20th century. Excellent, very intricate scenes surround the neck and body of the piece...the top has owls and birds...the body has hunters with spears, hounds and the prey of a wild boar all surrounded by tree, floral, vine and leaf work. Bands of various ornate designs further enhance the piece throughout. Minor age wear with a glaze pop here or there...some general age wear and crazing as would be expected...nothing that truly detracts. No hairlines or repairs are found. Marked on the bottom with only an incised mark of 781 and what looks like a C, it is a beautiful piece to add to your collection! Measures in at 11 & 1/2" tall overall. A sk questions if you have them...will be carefully packed and shipped promptly upon confirmation of your payment.
