Cast metal US NAVY destroyers "Meredith" and "Overton", by Argonaut. 1:1200 - 1:1250 I D Model Ship
You are bidding on two (2) 1:1200 - 1:1250 cast metal I.D. ship models of U.S.NAVY Destroyers Meredith (DD-434) and Overton (DD-239). These models by ARGONAUT are no longer in production. The white metal castings are marked on the bottom of the hull:
"A-265", "Meredith" and the large "A", Argonaut logo. (Model is 2 3/8" long, 3/8" beam)
"A-232", "Overton" and the large "A", Argonaut logo. (Model is 2" long, 5/16" beam)
All detail is fixed... no rotating parts, etc. These older Argonaut models are becoming difficult to find!
The prototype USS Meredith (DD-434) was 341 feet long with a beam of 35 feet, commissioned in March 1941, received 1 battle star for service in WW II and was scrapped in 1960. The model depicts the ship as she appeared ca. 1941.
The prototype USS Overton (DD-239) was 314 feet long with a beam of 32 feet, commissioned in June 1920, received 8 battle stars for service in WW II and was scrapped in 1945. The model depicts the ship as she appeared ca. 1943
