American Airlines worked in conjunction with the US Army Air Forces in WW2, supporting the war effort by moving men and material around the world. Crash axes were used by AAF air crews and supporting air assets to cut their way to out of a downed plane in case of emergency. This US Army AAF WW2 Emergency Flight Crash Axe is in good to very good condition, with the bottom portion of the red painted black rubber insulation having been chipped away. The axe head carries a light overall patina, and is stamped with the traditional winged "A" of American Airlines. The handle is marked "TEST FOR 20,000 VOLTS" on one side, and carries a faint contract number on the reverse. We have shown a WW2 American Airlines magazine ad, showing that two thirds of their participation in the war effort was classified. With apologies to our valued international clients, we must restrict bidding to US bidders only. Now celebrating our 10th year on eBay. and please view our other great military and aviation classics, including a US Army WW2 Sherman Tanker Winter Combat WPG "Tank" Jacket in mint, unissued condition, and size LARGE.
