US Army WW2 1ST MODEL M-43 E-Tool SHOVEL COVER FIXED WIRE HANGER 1943 Vtg EXC

The US Army's introduction of the folding M-1943 e-tool shovel in WW2 necessitated a new shovel cover as well. The 1st model M-43 shovel cover featured a wire hanger in a single fixed position at back. This didn't take the varying heights of soldiers into account, so was quickly redesigned with a series of possible positions for the hanger, making any 1st model M-43 shovel cover rare to encounter today. This US Army WW2 1ST MODEL M-43 E-Tool SHOVEL COVER is in excellent condition, with some very slight age marks at front, and the number ".39" having been written lightly in red at back by some unknown surplus dealer (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the cover is in excellent shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or damage of any kind to the crisp OD canvas construction. It features a fully functional "lift-the-dot" front closure flap, boasts the early leather corner protectors for the main pocket, and sports a fully intact fixed wire hanger at back. It's boldly "US" marked at front, and is stamped inside the flap with its maker and date, "CLEVE. CANVAS 1943". A fine example of a rare, original US Army WW2 1ST MODEL M-43 E-Tool SHOVEL COVER.
