An Art Deco Crown Ducal (trademark of A. G. Richardson) vase designed by Charlotte Rhead and tube-lined decorated on a mottled grey ground in the BLUE PEONY Pattern 4016 (introduced in 1935), consisting of stylised peony flowers and leaves in colours of blue & light purple. The base has the Crown Ducal AGR2 (Period 2 backstamp) factory mark dating to c.1935-1939, the probable shape number 133 and Charlotte Rhead's facsimile signature for the tube-liner, most likely Rose Dickenson (TL-RD3, in use from Period 2 onwards), she is also recognised as one of the most experienced and long serving tube-liners.Please see the following for further detailed information:Collecting Rhead Pottery - Charlotte • Frederick • Frederick Hurten.
