A Japanese Late Meiji period parquetry and lacquer work fitted table cabinet with gilt metal mounts

This Japanese late Meiji period parquetry and lacquer work fitted table cabinet with gilt metal mounts is a fantastic decorators or studio piece that would grace the interior of any minimalist or grand home. It was probably produced for the European market as it has a real Art Deco feel to it which is something that you rarely see in such oriental pieces. The wonderful parquetry work is so abstract, a design ahead of its time. The quality of this piece is phenomenal, the attention to detail can be seen in the way the parquetry work runs through the front doors and also the inside drawers. The inside of the doors are decorated with gold decoration in the form of a Bamboo tree design (see image 2).

Dimensions - 51cm high x 54cm wide x 32cm deep

The condition is generally very good, it does have some slight wear and I have recently had the top done to a good standard as it previously had some staining, the top was stripped back re-polished and waxed. The doors are if critical slightly bowed an there is a fine crack across the back but this piece is an antique and this wear is expected.
