John James Audubon's Birds of America was a revolutionary work displaying birds in lifelike poses and illustrated in their actual size. The full sized Amsterdam Edition reproductions captured Audubon's work better than any other series of reproductions and is highly prized by collectors. Their collector value continues to rise, and the birds of prey are among the most valuable. The Peregrine Falcon is one of nature's miracles and is illustrated here as the top predator that it is. Peregrine Falcons feed on ducks and other birds and is depicted preying upon a Green-winged Teal and Gadwall in one of Audubon's most spectacular paintings. This print is in excellent condition and shows only minor wear on the edge where it was torn from the binding. Audubon Amsterdam Edition prints are printed on heavyweight off-white paper with a watermark on the back. The print has been stored flat for the last five years and will be shipped in a six-inch mailing tube.
