Aunt Jemima originally came from a minstral show as a stereo type African American character. The Aunt Jemima character was in minstrel shows in the late 19th century, and was later adopted by commercial interests to represent the Aunt Jemima brand. . This "Mammy" Cookie Jar was made by Mosaic Tile Co. A limited amount were made as gifts for Architects during World War II, and were never a sales item. Measures 12 3/4 inches tall and 8 inches wide. Quite rare, and from a smoke free clean home. There are two small hairline cracks on the bottom. One is not visible by looking at it unless you turn it upside down. Not as large as the picture appears, it is about an inch, maybe less long. The other is near the right foot, see the picture. Also not as bad as it looks. Buyer should add $3.00 for insurance for this item
