Very Old, very rare and very unique vintage Navajo Turquoise necklace. This has been in the family for over three generations and I am over 60 years old. My earliest memories of the piece is my grandmother wearing it on special occasions. Upon her death, my mother inherited the necklace and it was her prize possession. During the seventies, an Indian Jewelry craze hit Arizona and pretty much all of the turquoise was mined and developed into what I call "knock off" imitation jewelry. This piece was used in ceremonial and dress and has very unique and rare Turquoise. The photos just do not do justice to the matrix or what is called "spider" fissure. Originally thought to be defects in the stone, later it became a prize quality for authenticity and rarity. It is impossible to authenticate the actual date of creation, but a very famous Native American Art Dealer in Scottsdale Arizona by the name of Ortiga dated the piece prior to 1920 and our family believes it was much earlier than that. The silver is pure and very old, the turquoise is very rare and you can judge by the clasp that this piece has never been tampered with and it is very old. I am going to start the bidding at very low price without reserve. I am going to take a chance that we have enough intelligent bidders that this one is not going to get bid away at a give away price.
