Balleroy Charger c1900 French Fine Limoges Enamel 50 cm

This is an unusual rare large antique French Enamel Limoges Charger, or Large Platter , or Round Plaque .

The charger has a fine blue main background color ranging from hues of dark blue to sky blue. It has a large central reserve beautifully decorated with enameled flowers, and a bird in flight; décor colors include rose pink, sage and willow green, yellow, and blue, and gold highlights

The underside bottom has an off-white glaze; and the rim foot is unglazed. Maker’s marks include hand painted enameled 1810 under the glaze; and incised marks B et Cie , with a C. above and a M. below, and 5 and 9 to the side.

The Limoges Enamel Charger in good condition, as noted. Specific glaze losses include: on the rim edge several small fretting losses to the blue enameling on the rim edge including three ¼ x 1/8 x 1/16 Inch dings between 10:00 and 11:00 o’clock; ¼ x ¼ x 1/16 Inch rim chip at 12:00; and a ½ Inch shallow loss at 1:00 on the front rim edge; and ¼ x ¼ 1/16 Inch rim chip at 3:00 o’clock.
