You are bidding on the Barlow Wadley XCR-30 Mark II portable Shortwave Receiver shown in the photo. Also included are copies of the instruction and service manuals (also available online, not shown in photos), and two spare BF255 transistors that were taped to the inside of the rear cover when I obtained the receiver.
This is a rare Barlow Wadley Receiver in very good working condition. This receiver is sensitive and stable, designed by the famout Dr. Wadley and build in South Africa in the 70's. It has a special circuit design ("Wadley Loop") for very good frequency stability. The receiver covers 0.5 MHz to 30 MHz in 30 bands of 1 MHz.
This example is Serial Number 11033, apparently made in about 1980, just before FM reception was added to the design.
Functional: I used this receiver over several days of listening and found it to be working very well electrically.
Sorry for the poor photos. My camera seems to have difficulty with black items - auto focus is only approximate, and every speck of dust shows up brightly in photos. It REALLY does look better in person.
