Since 1975 we have sold to auction houses, shops and antiques dealers; now, through the miracle of the Internet we sell directly to the consumer. We spend a large part of every year in Asia and have personally selected every item that we sell. Our particular interest is in Tibet and things Tibetan and we will stand behind the authenticity of everything that we sell.
TIBETAN GOMPA TRUMPET
A traditional large Tibetan trumpet of the type seen in Gompas in Nepal & Tibet. When we trekked to Everest base camp in 1981, our second trip, we went up the Arun River which is the least trekked route & after camping out one snowy night at around 9,000 feet, we saw in the morning that we were very close to a Tibetan Gompa. There was only one monk there, so we had tea with him, & gave him a big pair of woolly socks which he promptly put on over his Tibetan boots!..He then insisted we drink some Rakshi (like saki), bit early for that, but we did, & then as we left the Gompa & waved goodbye, he got out his long Tibetan trumpet & blew us over the pass, it was fabulous. It is 6 3/4" in diameter, & 48" long, & folds inside itself to 22"..
