Beautiful originally hand-coloured copper engraving, on fine laid paper from 'Sammlung verschiedener ausländischer und seltener Vögel' (Collection of various foreign and rare birds) by Johann Michael Seligmann, printed in Nurmberg in 1749. Engraved after drafts by George Edwards (1694 – 1773). Edwards was an English naturalist and ornithologist, known as the "father of British ornithology", and a librarian to the Royal College of Physicians in London.
