Old Bisbee Classic--Native Copper with Cuprite--Very Sculptural 5 Inch AZ Beauty

I'm very pleased to offer this classic specimen of Cuprite on Copper from Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona. The specimen measures 5.01 x 3.76 x 1.68 inches or 12.73 x 9.54 x 4.27cm and is in excellent condition. I very recently obtained this from an old collection in Phoenix and it comes with a cropped old label.
This is an excellent specimen and is more three dimensional than is shown in the photos---I think it is a very sculptural piece. The majority of the brilliant and tiny cuprite crystals are found on the upper portion of the specimen where the eye is naturally drawn to the leaves of cuprite-coated copper. The specimen weighs 11.4 ounces or 324 grams.
The mines at Bisbee are famous for these specimens but they aren't often found on the market. Of course, there exists a legion of Bisbee specialists and quality specimens are always in demand. This has never been cleaned (thank goodness) and has that rich patina that one looks for in copper specimens. Too often collectors are tempted to make these "bright as a penny" but seasoned collectors crave the classic patina of uncleaned (or at least minimally cleaned) specimens.
Please check my feedback and my other eBay items...thanks! All specimens are carefully wrapped, come with complete and accurate labels and are quickly shipped. As always, your complete satisfaction
