Up for auction is an antique, vintage, rare Black Americana candy fruit tin. Approximately 9 1/4" long, 1 3/4" high, and 5" front to back. On the top, a pretty deep blue background with what looks like a black porter wearing white gloves, red uniform, holding a tray of fruit. Besides him pictures of colorful fruit, watermelon, grapes, cherries, pears, peaches, strawberries and pineapple. Front and back in red letters, FRANCISCO MORENO S.A. Calahorra. On the ends, FRUTAS CRISTALIZADAS, below that, in tiny writing, DE -ANDREIS M E BADALONA. On the inside lid of tin, in gold and black, the same pictured black man holding fruit tray with the words, Francisco Moreno S.A. (FUNDADA EN 1902) CALAHORRA FRUTAS CRISTALIZADAS FRUTAS CONFITADAS MERMELADAS PASTAS DE FRUTAS conservas finas. The tin has wear, some dents on the top of tin, left side, scratches and some paint loss. The inside is in good condition, tried to reflect in my pictures. Even with the flaws, considering the age, this is a remarkable old tin! A truly super collectible. Looks fantastic on display! From a smoke free home. Thank you for looking and please check my other listings for interesting collectibles.
