BLACK AMERICANA SOUTHERN FOLK ART DOLL c. 1850

is an old doll from about 1850. It is a Southern folk art doll. A great piece of black americana. It is 25" long. The body is sewn from a black silk like material. The shirt is a linen or cotton. The face is embroidered using embroidery silk. The curly black hair is wool yarn. Some of the stitching is by hand, other by machine. One of the wooden feet is missing. On one hand the black material is worn through in spots. He has been sewn so that he bends at the ankles, hips, waist and shoulders.
