Black leather fire helmet shield for New Yorker style Kensington Vol Fire Dept

Original leather helmet shield from my 1st issued Cairns leather New Y orker style fire helmet in 1977. While assigned to Engine Company 18 of the Kensington V olunteer Fire Department in Montgomery Coun ty, Maryland. One of 4 stations operated by the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department it's located at 12251 Ge org ia Avenue in Glenmont , Maryland. It was the 2nd station built by the volunteer fire c ompany with Station 5 being the 1st and operating as the Headquarters station for the depa rtment located in downtown "Ol d Towne" Kensington. The 3rd station being Montgomery County Station 21 located in the Viers Mill Village section of Montgomery County. The 4th and f inal station is County Station #25 located in the Aspen Hill section of the co unty. The 4 stations having a first due area of approximately 43 square mile s and resp on d to over 18,000 calls annually for F ire / EMS services to a population of roughly 190,000 citizens of Montgomery County. It has a combined staff of both volunteer and paid county fire fighters which keeps 4 front line engine com panies (715,718,721725) and th ree ladder com panies ( Aerial Tower71 5 & 718 , Lad der 725 TDA) 3 MICU's as well as 3 BSL ambulances, 2 brush units, and several command and support un its in - serv ice 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
