Blanche Rothschild (1893-1988) Woman With Blue Dress

This is a nicely done large portrait of a seated woman wearing a blue dress by the artist Blanche Rothschild (1893-1988). There is not much information about Rothschild but one of her paintings entitled The Wedding Dress is in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The woman's dress is painted with various shades of blue to create the impression of folds and reflected light. Numerous colors are used to depict the flesh tones on the face and arms giving a well modelled depth and dimensionality to the figure. The cloth background and chair covering are painted with patches of color. This is a creative and artistically rendered painting. The painting is being sold unframed. Rothschild's signature and a title for the work are on the verso. The painting is in excellent condition with no condition issues. The stretcher dimensions are 20" x 24". Any questions will be gladly answered.
