Incorporated at Erwin, Tennessee in 1920, Southern Potteries grew slowly until they introduced the "Blue Ridge - Hand Painted Under The Glaze" dinnerware line about 1938. Extremely popular and successful through the 1940's and early 1950's, they were unable to compete with post-war Japan production, and the Southern Potteries finally closed in 1957.
