BLUE Stoneware Folk Art Pottery ROOSTER Not a FACE JUG

By Josh Boock a self representing artist 14" TALL

This STONEWARE Cone 10 Reduction Fired Hand Thrown Pottery Rooster measures 13.8 inches tall by 10.5 inches wing tip to wing tip with an over all length of approximately 19 inches.

The cobalt glaze on this particaly piece has some very nice light blue freckles evenly distributied through out the piece. The glaze around the neck was wiped away to highlight the texture around the head.

I wheel throw this spires to represent the tail feathers.

This piece also features a COPPER RED glaze.

T is an old Japanese Proverb that tells of a potter to the Emperor of Japan who became extremely depressed trying to achieve a perfect copper red for the Emperor that one day in total frustration he threw him self in to a RED HOT KILN .

Days later when the kiln was opened it was found that his body had added the perfect amount of reduction material to get to the perfect copper red .

Hand thrown in the North Woods of Minnesota
