blue & white salt glazed stoneware pitcher rose trellis

This vintage 'blue and white' piece is actually a beautiful blue and beige salt-glazed stoneware pitcher. It has a rose on trellis relief design imbedded in the exterior wall of the vessel. The body is ecru or beige with a slightly yellowish cast--native stoneware color. The handle is long with a slightly curved top. Although it doesn't detract from its beauty, the spout has been damaged slightly with a boo-boo that is more of a scrape than a break. T are no other chips or cracks and only light crazing and a few minor pock marks.

T are no maker's marks on the bottom. I am uncertain of the exact date, but salt glazed stoneware domestic items were being made in the late 1800s and early 1900s by different potters in the mid-west and the south. This would be a beauty to display alone or perhaps display fresh cut flowers.

It is 8 3/4 inches tall, has a 5 inch diameter opening, is about 6 1/2 inches diameter at its largest area and measures 4 1/2 inches on the base.
