This is a rare survival of a Folio edition of the 'Book of Common Prayer' printed in 1735 by John Baskett Printer to the King which is shown on the title page above. The book is not in its original 18th Century binding (possibly a heavy leather version as this is a big book) but a later black leather cloth version probably being rebound sometime in the 20th Century.

The printing in the book is a wonderful version of early 18th Century printing & the illustration of St Pauls Cathedral on the frontispiece is an excellent example of the printers art. The book now measures approx 12.5" x 9" but would be classed as Folio size so would be a family or church version of the book as it is a little too heavy to carry to church each Sunday!.

There is some staining to the front pages (see photograhs) above but otherwise the book is I believe in good condition for something over 300+ years old. The book could I assume be rebound although the present binding is quite secure, the book has a starting price to reflect this fact. This book would I belieive be of interest to a specialist antiquarian book seller.
