BOOTH'S SILICONE CHINA "The Pompadour" LIDDED SAUCE TUREEN 7 3/4" This Lovely Sauce Tureen comes from one of Booth's Potteries in Tunstall Staffordshire and Features a Pattern called "The Pompadour". Introduced in 1907, the Pattern was one of Booth's Most Po pular Designs and continued in produc tion into the 1950's . The Sauce Tureen is made with Booth's innovative "Sili con China". The Tureen has a Blue and White Floral Transfer Pattern which has b een HandPainted with Red, Purple, Yellow Flowers and Several Shades of Green Leaves. The Top Edge of the Tureen and the Outer Edge of the Lid are Ribbed and the Rimare Scalloped with a Brown Edge. There is further Brown Detail to the Finial on the Lid and to the Handles on the Tureen. The Use of Colour and the Ribbed Contours Accentuate the Bold Design. The Tureen measures 7 3/ 4" across the Handles and is 3 1/2" Wide at the Top Rim which is 2 1 /2" above the Table. The Lid - which has a Notch to Accommodate a Handle - overhangs the To p Rim and takes the Total Height to 4 3/8". The Backstamp has "B OOTHS" in an Arc over a Small Crown and over "SILICON CHINA" in an Arc over "ENGLAND" all Over "THE P OMPADOUR" in a Straight Line. This mark retains some of the Aspects of the First used on Pompadour Items when the Pattern was Introduced in 1907 (eg "ENGLAND" not "MADE IN ENGLAND"
