Michael Matthew Bowden (born September 9, 1986 in Winfield, Illinois ) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization. In 2007 , he played for the Lancaster JetHawks and Portland Sea Dogs . He attended high school at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL . He was selected by the Red Sox in the 1st round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft .[ 1]

Bowden began his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox in 2005 , and advanced to the Greenville Drive the following season, also playing one game with the Wilmington Blue Rocks .

Bowden began the 2008 season with the Sea Dogs and was promoted to the Pawtucket Red Sox , the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, on July 18, 2008. [2 ] On August 29, 2008 , Bowden was called up by the Red Sox, and won his Major League debut August 30 against the Chicago White Sox .[ 3] He got the decision in a five-inning start, giving up seven hits and two runs in an 8-2 win.
