~RARE BOSTON SANDWICH FLINT GLASS MOLD BLOWN 10" VASE c1830 ~ ~ RARE BOSTON SANDWICH FLINT GLASS MOLD BLOWN 10" VASE c1830 ~ ~ Wonderful Octagonal Body & Base w/Large Fluted Rim ~ ~ NO RESERVE AUCTION ~ This no reserve auction is for a fabulous mold blown octagonal fluted rim vase. Blown by the Boston Sandwich Glass Company beginning in 1825, the Company refined their techniques as time progressed and produced many different designs. This extraordinary vase dates to c1830. The large vase stands a stately 10" high with a wonderful eight-paneled octagonal body and base. Of all the Boston Sandwich glass examples I've offered, I've never seen a vase like this. This large 10" high vase was blown in a mold in two parts that were fastened togeter with a large crude wavy wafer. The early origin of this fine vase is easily evident in the multitude of straw marks and striations throughout the piece. Rich with all the primitive imperfections one looks for in early Boston Sandwich Flint glass. It has a deeply concave base with eight elegantly curved panels and eight well-defined base edges. The oversized large fluted rim adds dramatic flair to a supremely beautiful example of early Boston Sandwich/Flint glass...
