Botanisches Kartenspiel von J.H. Loschenkohl, Botanical Cards Reproduction, 1978

Botanisches Kartenspiel von J.H. Loschenkohl, Botanical Cards Reproduction, Limited Edition, 1978
Limited edition mint set of Botanical Cards by J.H. Loschenkohl, Austrian artist 1753 - 1807. The deck is a facsimile of an original historic Botanical deck of hand-colored copper engravings published in 1806 by permission of the Austrian Museum of Applied Art. The origin of the pack is indicated by the handwritten inscription on the Ace of Clubs. The set was issued in a limited edition of 1000, this is numbered 206 on the inside cover of the book.
The cards feature figures based on models from the journal of Berlin theater costumes. Some of the court cards represented are Rodugune, Mary Queen of Scots, Duke of Alba, Produpius, Iphigenie, Thoas, Athalia and William Tell.
The cards are complete with 52 cards in French suits. They measure 2 3/16" x 3 5/16" and are still in their factory cellowrap, causing them to warp over the years.
The 129-page soft cover book is in German and English with preface by Detlef Hoffmann. It measures 5" x 3 9/16".
The lift off box features an allover floral pattern on the lid and measures 5 9/16" x 7 3/4".
