The History Series honors famous horses from the past. Marengo was a small but striking grey Arabian who served as Napoleon's mount through several important battles. He apparently carried the wounds to prove it - it was rumored that he had 5 scars and a bullet lodged in his tail! Captured after the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's bitter and final defeat in Belgium in 1815, Marengo was taken to England, w, until his death in 1832, he was a sensational exhibit known as "Bonaparte's Charger." His skeletal remains are on exhibit in London at the National Army Museum.
