c.1800 Antique Authentic Scrimshaw Tooth

we present a wonderful c.1800's scrimshaw. It measures 5.5 inches from the back , 6.5 inches measuring from the front with the curvature . Depicted on the curved front is a figure dressed in period clothing with fancy hat. At first glance it appears that t is a long straight crack to the right - but it is actually a flag pole with a long flag bearing a skull and crossbones.

It has yellowed with age , I have not attempted to clean it. On the flat side, t is an outline - a lot of little black dots - showing a sailing ship. It is very faint . I do find very small lines near the tip that feel like age cracks. Tooth is heavy, more so at the tip, than the flat end.

This is 100 percent guaranteed to be an original . Not a reproduction.
