~ An Antique Scenic View An antique large format cabinet card photograph of railroad tracks along water with a rocky abutment, taken by "Wood, Photographer, Lake City, Minn." The photographer was John William Wood, who worked in Lake City in the 1880s and 1890s and passed away in 1908. Although this is a detailed view showing how the track was constructed and distinct telephone lines, it appears to have been a windy day as there's movement here and there to the bushes along the tracks and trees across the water. There's a vertical light area at right side that is in the print, and could be a reflection. No location but perhaps that landmark peak is somewhere near Lake City. This came from the estate of a man who attended the Univ. of Minn. and was with his photos of the late 1880s to very early 1890s.

CONDITION & DESCRIPTION: very good condition after ca. 120+ years. The image itself is high gloss, impeccably clean, and adheres tightly to the mount. The off-white card measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/4". This finely detailed image will copy and enlarge nicely to illustrate a publication or website. There is minor bumping / wear to the corners. My camera doesn't do well with solid light colored paper items. There is a diagonal pressure crease to the card at upper left corner
