The first of two Officer’s cap badges to the Canadian Guards. PLEASE NOTE! In this lot you are bidding on the item in the first scan only! Any other scans are included to show the difference in the varieties I am currently offering for sale on eBay. The first badge is the large size pattern in silver, gilt and enamels with lug fasteners. The Regiment of Canadian Guards was authorized October 16th 1953 as a four Battalion Regular Army Regiment with two additional Reserve Army Battalions being added in 1954. The Governor General’s Foot Guards (5th Battalion, Canadian Guards) (Militia) and the Canadian Grenadier Guards (6th Battalion, Canadian Guards) (Militia). The 3rd and 4rth Battalions of the Regiment were disbanded in 1957 and the remaining two Active Battalions reduced to nil strength October 1st 1968 and the regiment placed on the Supplementary Order of Battle List July 6th 1970.
