Very Scarce.A handsome and complete set of this very scarce early printing of one of the great cornerstone works in the exploration of the Antarctic. This edition was published to be sold only in British colonies. The text is unabridged and complete and it may be more scarce than the usual London edition. The first book offers the journals of Scott, written up until his death; he protected the manuscript with his body, and it was eventually found and published. The second volume offers narratives by Wilson and Atkinson as well as several of the scientific reports generated during the expedition. These books are solid and in decent condition; but with a tear on the folding map and lacking one of the small maps; the books retain their original covers.
