Hello, and welcome to my auction. is one big beautiful sunflower pin that I am very please to bring to you. I think that all of us like these brilliant golden beauties. I especially like to see them in the fields in the summer time. The sunflower fields are something to see. This sunflower pin would make a nice addition to your bakelite collection, or to wear with your favorite summer dress or blouse. This entire pin is carved from guaranteed vintage catalin/bakelite as are all of my bakelite pieces. I carved the center of the sunflower from a nice brown bakelite. I added a blue/black center to it to give it more dimension and a darker center. I carved a pattern into it to give it a seeded effect. I added a black enamel wash to blend it all in. The petals of the sunflowers are carved from a rich yellow bakelite. These are epoxied around the outside of the brown center. The big green leafs are carved from a very pretty spring green colored bakelite. This is epoxied onto the back of the sunflower. This pin measures 2 & 1/2" wide, and is 3 & 1/4" in length. I found a nice pin back that is very thick at the base and I used this for this pin as it is big. The pins base is nicely inset into the bakelite and epoxied.
