CC-100 PCGS XF45 PPQ $65.00 Jan. 14, 1779 Continental Colonial Note A scarce January 14, 1779 $65.00 Continental Colonial Note in very attractive condition. Graded by PCGS as XF45 PPQ (Premium Paper Quality) with the look of a higher grade. Well printed on both sides and Choice for the Grade with no problems of any kind, and there are no pin holes. There are blue threads embedded into the rag paper and a few small reflective mica flakes are present on the surfaces of both sides. In addition to these common devices that were used as a deterant to counterfeiting, this issue also was printed in two colors ( Black & Red ) on the front, and the paper itself is watermarked " CONFEDE RATION " on two lines when candled from behind (see last photo above). The emblem & the motto on this $65 denomination was designed & developed by Francis Hopkinson (a signer to the Declaration of Independence ) who unsuccessfully sought monetary compensation from the Continental Congress and the U.S. Congress for this work. The serial number 18874 is hand-written in rich red ink, as is the bold signature of William Gamble , while that of Jedediah Snowden is penned in dark brown ink. " Printed by HALL and SEL-LERS. 1779. " as stated on the back. The " Printed by " is printed in a cursive type font. Major William Gamble was an officer during the Revolutionary
