CERVIDAE BONE TLINGIT ORCA KILLER WHALE TOTEM NECKLACE

~ A CARVED DEER (CERVIDAE) BONE AND ABALONE ORCA NECKLACE ~

THIS SYMBOLIC FIGURATIVE NECKLACE FORMS A VERY SPECIAL AMULET OF

NATIVE AND TRIBAL SYMBOLISM'S AND BELIEFS.

This exquisitely crafted Tlingit styled carved Deer (Cervidae) bone and Abalone necklace is unique and extremely rare.

The maker is Nakwesee (who was also a jeweler), the granddaughter of Chief Lelooska. Patty Fawn is her mother.

The entire necklace is hand carved of Deer Bone with an Orca (killer whale) figure being inlaid high grade Abalone.

The beads are squared bone with 40 pieces of polished Abalone spread out in pairs around the necklace.

Really, words cannot describe the strength of feeling and tribal tradition that is encompassed in this work.

An extremely important work of great sincerity.

THOUGH THIS PIECE IS UNSIGNED, GIVEN IT'S PLACE IN THE COLLECTION AND

THE OWNERS ASSOCIATION WITH THE LELOOSKA CLAN WE BE SURE IT IS THE WORK OF

PATTY FAWN'S DAUGHTER, NAKWESEE .

The necklace is 28 inches around with the Orca figure being 5 " tall by 5 " wide

The bone beads are 1/2 " long, and the abalone ones are 7/16 long

Weighs 2.8 ounces
