Michael J. Smith (1945-1986) Astronaut. Smith was selected for the astronaut program in May 1980. He pilot of the Space Shuttle Challenger when it was destroyed during the STS-51-L mission. All seven crew members died.5âe x 3âe card signed. His name and background have been typed in the upper left. We are full time autograph dealers , registered with the U.A.C.C.
