CHARLES HORNER Silver Enamel Flower Head Pin - Chester 1911

This most attractive and extremely rare brooch/ pin was made in 1911 by the famous English maker, Charles Horner . It is made of sterling silver with enamel and fully hallmarked.
It is 2 and 3/16" ( 5.5cms) wide and 7/16" (1.1cms) down the centre. It weighs 3.8 grams.
The brooch, in the Arts and Crafts/Art Nouveau style, has a beautiful central motif of five flower or seed heads. These are raised above truly vibrant enamelling in shades of turquoise, green and midnight blue. Beneath the enamel is fine texturing which creates a wonderful shimmering effect.
On the back is the makers mark, `C.H', then the English hallmarks -the lion passant , denoting sterling silver, the three sheaves of corn for Chester and the letter, `L' , denoting the year 1911 . There is a very solid, old style c clasp.
