Sweet silver baby bell or rattle. It has a large pendant and would have had a teething ring on it, probably mother of pearl. It is signed WEB Sterling on both the bail and the back of the bell. Some sources said that is for Webster Co. of Attleboro, MA. Apparently, they were connected to Reed and Barton. Probably from the 1930s or '40s.It has a smooth back and the front is embossed with a clock (reminds me of the nursery rhyme, Hickory Dickory Dock), It has "Birth Record" etched across the top, and at the bottom are places to engrave the date of birth and the baby's weight. I'm guessing the baby's name would be engraved on the back, or possibly initial inside the center of the clock. The bail is shaped like a belt and buckle.Very good condition; a wee bit of tarnish spots. There is a smooth indentation on the smooth back and I have no idea if that's the way it was made. The bell makes a lovely sound. Since the teething ring is missing, it would be wonderful to wear on a chain or thread a ribbon through to make an ornament keepsake.weight is .33 ounces or 9.4 gramssize is 1 7/8" x 1 1/16"inkfrog terapeakinkFrog Analytics
