EXTREMELY RARE c1850 CHINESE EXPORT SILVER AND BONE LADLE; ELEGANT BIRDS AMIDST PRUNUS DECORATED HANDLE; ON FINE STIPPLED GROUND; NEVER MONOGRAMMED; RARE MAKER "WA" This is a rare form, mid 19th century signed Chinese export silver and bone ladle. From the extremely rare maker "WA". The famed Chait collection boasts only a single example from this silversmith. In thirty years of collecting, this is only the fifth example from WA that we own. Now offered on Ebay. The ladle with long, tapering handle. Beautifully decorated with birds amidst lush prunus branch and flowers. One bird perched peacefully among the budding flowers. A second bird, wings outstretched in flight. The long, gnarled prunus branches with rich, chased life like detail. Set against finest hand hammered stippled background. Accentuates the primary design perfectly. Handle attached to bowl with original two rivets. Long, tall walled shaped bone bowl. In fine state. Never monogrammed. This fine and extremely rare, c1850 Chinese export silver and bone ladle is 11 1/2 inches long. In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The endearing birds amidst florals decoration retains its original, crisp vibrant hand chased detail. The bowl in fine state, few tiny lines and mild scuffs as shown. Signed "WA".
