U2 Spy Plane


Southeast Asia High Flier - U2

Known as the ' Dirty Dogs ' and the ' Bluebird ' (for the 'anti radar location' paintwork) the U2 Spy Planes were used by the US Military from the mid 1950's and CIA ffrom the beginning of the 1960's.

Utilised for spying missions over North Vietnam the pilots of the U2 Spy Planes, prior to the full arrival of the US Military were CIA / Air America Pilots operating initiailly out of Takhli Air Force Base (Thailand) and Bien Hoa as the war progressed. The U2 Aircraft flew at such altitudes to be barely visible to the human eye (and were often mistaken for UFO's) and were widely used before the war even officially began in Vietnam.

Excellent and Very rare Patch - 1 Only Available.

Note: Gary Powers, captured by the Soviets over Russia in 1960 and in 1962 exchanged for a Soviet Spy was flying a U2 Spy Plane misssion when captured.
