One complete, uncut, ORIGINAL Civil War Atlas sheet...18" by 29"...from the 1890s US Government limited issue ATLAS TO ACCOMPANY THE OFFICIAL RECORDS OF THE UNION AND CONFEDERATE ARMIES.Plate number 106, in Near Mint original condition, contains over 50 Civil War drawings and diagrams including: TRESTLE USED WITH CANVAS PONTOON BOATS, METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING BRIDGES WITH CANVAS PONTOONS, CHESS WAGON FOR CANVAS PONTOON TRAIN, PLAN OF SMALL CANVAS PONTOON, PONTOON COVER, PLAN OF LARGE CANVAS PONTOON BRIDGE, ABOUT THIRTY "DRAWINGS OF RIFLED PROJECTILES USED BY THE REBELS IN THE VIRGINIA CAMPAIGN OF 1864". THE OFFICIAL ATLAS, as it is called, represents the culmination of decades of research after The War, and was contributed to by the military leaders of The War, civil engineers and cartographers, and was intended to be THE companion to The OFFICIAL RECORDS OF THE CIVIL WAR. The Atlas contains 178 large sheets, mostly with individual maps tracing events from before Fort Sumter and through to Appomattox, with key battle-grounds and key regions detailed in topographical format, and these outstanding diagrams are exceptions to the average Atlas plate.
