Rare CIVIL WAR ERA DRUM with Compass Rose Inlay/Marquetry

Up for auction is an authentic

CIVIL WAR period Drum

with a a beautiful Compass Rose inlay.

(I have seen only one like it on Google Images)

It measures 17" across and 11 1/4" high.

It retains some of its original heart-shaped leather tab ears

and it's black painted design along both rims is in excellent condition.

The hoops are strong and hold well.

As for condition:

The bottom skin head is split

(as is common for drums that old).

The top skin has some stains.

There is one old veneer patch, with nice aged patina.

Please view the photos for details.

This is a great Civil War item

and would be a great addition to a Civil War collection.
