Here's a nice big wide bodied Smithfield NC pottery pitcher that we found in a little shop in the edge of TN just this past week. This pitcher is known to have been made in 2 sizes... a small creamer, and this table sized one for milk or buttermilk. It's colored in Herman Cole's old Cobalt glaze, which is often referred to as a "Midnight" Blue. Pitcher is likely to have been turned by Guy Daughtry, circa 1930. This is a rare form in either size, and the 4-5 that I have seen previously were all in Chrome Red. The pitcher stands 6" tall at the top of the rim, by right at 9" in overall length, from the tip of the spout to the outer edge of the handle. Condition is excellent, save 2 very small glaze flakes to the rim. I have touched them up with a Crayola crayon, but I think you can pick that up in the last photo (6 & 7 o'clock position). If you want to remove the touch ups, a little plain soap and water will do the trick. Again, these are very small color overs, and they should not affect the value or desirability at all. Pitcher ships USPS Priority OR Standard Ground Parcel (Economy) Insured Mail. All items are available for local pickup at our store in Mayodan NC, if desired. Thanks for looking, and good luck should you choose to bid on it. Ed
